We have been waiting for today for quite some time. Ethan and Aisha have been counting the sleeps since early December and today we finally set off.
We left home just before 12:30 and made it to Lake Tyers around 3pm. The kids slept for quite some time in the car and we made the trip without stopping. The traffic was quite heavy for the entire trip but I must say all the traffic was moving very well.
Cate and the kids went to the beach while I set up the trailer, then went shopping and cooked dinner.
They had a great time at the beach and then after dinner went to bed. Aisha took a long time to sleep, I did the dishes then Cate and I settled in for a relaxing night of reading.
Dam!! Only 3 weeks to go.
Monday 29th December
We woke to a really warm morning. The sun was hot, the camper warmed up very quickly and we were all up early. The pool didn't open until 9am and we went there and back before then. That gave us time for breakfast.
At 9:01 (literally) we went back to the pool. The 4 of us played for a little while before Aisha wanted to go to the beach. Ethan wanted to go as well, after Aisha and I left, and then we all headed to the beach.
This blog will say many times about the perfect day at the beach, but today trumps all of them. The walk was terrific, and we settled in.
Cate and Ethan went into the water and had an awesome time. Aisha and I played in the sand and went to and fro to the water at times.
I noticed that Ethan was standing very flat footed when the waves came and told him to stand with his legs apart and parallel to the waves.
The confidence with the waves was amazing. He was standing with the waves waist high in no time.
The 4 of us were at the beach for quite some time having a great time. Cate and I I sat in our beach chairs discussing how great the day was and really bonding. I feel Cate and I are as close as we have ever been right here on the beach a discussing all that important to us.
Zaron and Talia arrived around 3 pm. We are totally delighted to have them here with us this week. They bought a new tent, cutlery, and bought mattresses with them. I was delighted to watch then set up their tent for the first time.
Everyone was excited, no more than Zaron and Talia.
Zaron and I went shopping after the tent set up. Dinner was cooked, then the kids went to bed (begrudgingly of course) and we lit the a fire.
Zaron, Talia, Cate and I then played some games for a little while before Cate went to bed. Zaron, Talia and I played for a little while by the fire.
We still have a long time to go on this holiday and really today was a 10/10. Awesome morning, awesome midday, awesome evening.
I love my family. The beach this morning seeing Aisha making us "food and drink" and Ethan playing and becoming confident in the waves, then Zaron and Talia joining us, I really am in heaven.

Tuesday 30th December
This morning was again quite warm and our tent heated up quickly so we were out of bed fairly early. I had planned to have corned beef in the DreamPot for dinner so went to the kitchen and cooked dinner early.
Zaron and I had planned to play golf this morning so we headed to the Lake Golf Course. We had a terrific time. The course is really good nick, and we certainly got our monies worth. We played some great shots, we played some terrible shots, but we played shots. It was terrific to walk around and have a chat with Zed for a couple of hours when all that really mattered was us.
After golf Zaron and I went shopping then headed back to the camp site. Talia, Cate and the kids went to the pool in the morning and by all accounts had fun as well. We had lunch and then chilled around the camp for a little while and then headed to the beach.
Today was definitely not a beach day. The wind has been very strong most of the day and it felt like we were getting sandblasted as soon as we hit the sand. We were only there for 15 minutes at the most before heading back to the park and straight to the pool.
Zaron and Talia swam with Ethan and Aisha then they showered before dinner. We hadn't had a DreamPot meal since our Noosa trip and I was really looking forward to the meal. I was terribly disappointed. I'm not sure if I got the recipe wrong or the meat was a bad quality, either way I was disappointed.
Bed time for the kids arrived very soon after dinner. Cate went for a walk and I put the kids to bed and then Zaron, Talia, Cate and I settled down to the fire place. There really is not to much better than sitting in front of an open fire chewing the fat with people you love.
Wednesday 31st December
We woke to a glorious morning. The sun was shining and compared to yesterday there was no wind to speak of. We pottered around the campsite for most of the morning then headed to the beach early afternoon.
The beach was fun. Ethan is becoming more and more confident in the water, going out on his own over waist high. Zaron went for a swim and Ethan watched him dive under the waves so he tried doing that as well, with great success.
Zaron and I were playing catch with a gridiron ball for a little while and Aisha was very keen to join in. Her and I eventually made up a game where she would throw the ball away from me and we raced to get it, good fun.
Mid afternoon we went into Lakes where there is a festival, with many different rides. The 6 of us had a great time walking around and getting on the rides. We got back to the campsite just after 6, Cate, Ethan and Aisha had chicken wraps for dinner. After the kids went to bed I cooked a BBQ then we settled by the fire for New Years. The atmosphere around the park was terrific and the usual last 10 second count down came, Happy 2015.
Cate, Talia, Cate and I had sparklers to see in the new year then we took some photos using a long exposure and the glow sticks. The photos turned our very well, excellent in fact. A great night was had by all.
Thursday 1st January
I decided to do a big cook up for the beginning of the year. We had sausages, bacon, eggs, spaghetti, hash browns, fried tomato and fried mushrooms washed down with coffee and orange juice, delicious.
After breaky we went to the beach again. We didn't spend to much time at the beach before Ethan and Aisha wanted to get back to the site. Cate and I had a nap in the afternoon then Zaron and I went and got fish and chips for dinner, it has been a totally relaxing start to 2015. Again we sat in front of the fire until bed time.
